Arbitration Procedure

The Federal Government Commissioner for Matters relating to Persons with Disabilities provides an arbitration service for the needs of people with disabilities according to § 16BGG. The purpose of the Arbitration Service is to settle disputes, by extrajudicial means, which arise between persons with disabilities and public authorities and relate to the subject of accessibility. Unlike legal proceedings, an arbitration procedure is free of charge, and there is no need to call upon legal counsel. There are no winners or losers, rather those involved try to resolve the conflict together with the aid of the Arbitration Service.
