Is the “Wende” (lit. ‘turning point’) over? - A travelling exhibition on Germany’s reunification in 1990

In Thuringia, Saxony, and Brandenburg, the interactive travelling exhibition "Is the ‘Wende’ over?" explores the reunification of East and West Germany in 1990, stimulating discussions about the period of reunification and its aftermath, as well as its impact on the present. Silk meets Science: European Heritage Award went to EU research project SILKNOW

One of the European Heritage Awards 2022, awarded by the European Commission and Europa Nostra, went to a project with substantial contributions from Germany: the collaborative Horizon 2020 project SILKNOW. The project partners at Leibniz University Hannover and other European research institutions developed virtual applications to help preserving the cultural heritage of European silk production.

Science transfer: Merian Center ICAS:MP launches two book series

ICAS:MP in New Delhi is one of the five Merian Centres funded by the BMBF with the aim of internationalizing German science and promoting bilateral and multilateral exchange in the humanities and social sciences. The Centers for Islamic Theology: Pioneers with International Impact

With a total of around 44 million Euros, since 2011, the BMBF has been funding seven centers centers for Islamic theology, including, since 2019, the Institutes for Islamic Theology at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin and at the University of Paderborn. After ten years of funding, they are recognized both nationally and internationally.

Japan: DIJ-research on the impact of the Tokyo Olympics on Japanese society

Postponed by a year due to the Corona pandemic, a first in Olympic history, the Olympic and Paralympic Games Tokyo 2020 have begun on July 23, 2021. Another Olympic first is that these Games are held without almost any spectators. The German Institute for Japanese Studies Tokyo (DIJ) has analyzed the immense efforts Japan undertook to bring the Games to Tokyo in a recent publication.
