PUBLIKATION: The new issue of the Zeitschrift für Migrationsforschung / Journal of Migration Studies has been published!

In this issue, issue 1/2024, current trends and challenges of international migration are examined from an interdisciplinary perspective. Specialist articles from the social sciences, political science and migration research offer new insights into topics such as migration and integration, transnational networks and the effects of global crises.

This seventh issue of the ZMF comprises four essays and two discussion papers from various disciplines.

The "Zeitschrift für Migrationsforschung / Journal of Migration Studies" (ZMF) is published by the Institute for Migration Research and Intercultural Studies (IMIS) and offers an open forum for academic debate on the background and conditions of spatial movements of people in the past and present as well as on social change brought about by migration processes in contexts of origin, transit and arrival. The contributions present current research findings from various disciplines and fields of research, discuss concepts or formulate theoretical propositions. All articles undergo a review process for quality assurance, are discussed by the editors of the journal and are intensively coordinated with the authors.

The journal publishes both open collection issues and closed themed issues. It is published twice a year, and completed articles are published "online first" in a timely manner. The journal comprises both German and English-language articles, which are organised into two sections.

Articles offer insights into specific questions of migration research. They argue against the background of the current state of academic debate and reflect on their findings methodologically and theoretically. The essays undergo a double anonymised review process. They should not exceed a length of 65,000 characters (including spaces).

Discussion articles take up current conceptual, methodological or theoretical debates in migration research or offer conference, practice and literature reports or collective reviews. Their quality is thoroughly checked by the editors of the journal, but the discussion contributions are not subject to the external review process. They should not exceed a length of 35,000 characters (including spaces).
