"Soundscapes of War - Listening to the Lost Heritage" explores the auditory dimensions of loss and resistance through the screening and discussion of "Войси з Бахмута" / "Voice Messages from Bakhmut" (Ukraine, Lithuania, 2023). This short film presents a poignant narrative set in Bakhmut in the Donetsk region in 2022, showing the attempt to re-establish intimacy despite the distance forced by the war. Using real-time voice messages from a female correspondent stationed in a town on the front line, the film constructs a deeply personal and haunting soundscape of war. The film screening will be followed by a discussion on the role of sound and image in the representation and imagination of war, in the search for lost heritage and in fostering emotional connections in war zones. The aim is to provide an insight into the human experience of war and to stimulate a critical dialogue about memory and resilience.
